We are looking for coaches and volunteers – all experience levels are welcome
At First Tee – Lakeland, we help kids discover what’s inside of them, guide them to strengthen it and mentor them to put it into action in everything they do.
To do this, we need enthusiastic and caring individuals to serve as positive mentors and role models to kids and teens of various backgrounds. Our coaches’ ability to develop impactful relationships with our participants is the backbone of our program.
You don’t have to be a golf pro (or even a good golfer), we will provide the training you need! Our training system is built on research-proven methods of positive youth development, providing coaches with the tools to make kids feel safe, included and empowered.
Our chapters rely on volunteers — sometimes year-round — to accomplish our mission, and not all of those goals involve golf. Most chapters need support off the course as well. These opportunities include:
*** All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer packet prior to working with youth. ***
- Central Florida Junior Golf Tour – Assist staff with tournament day operations at our junior events held county wide.
- Coaching – Assist our coaches during program time in one of the following golf classes: Target, Par, Birdie, Eagle, Adaptive Golf/Special Olympics, LPGA*USGA Girls Golf
- Data Entry – Assist staff with entering data such as school grades and volunteer information.
- Facility Habitat – If you enjoy the outdoors help us keep our gardens and native habitat impressive.
- Field Trips – Accompany First Tee members when they attend clinics, professional golf tournaments or other events.
- Fundraising – Help with community networking and securing necessary contributions to support programs.
- Mentor – Set a time with a child…tee it up, practice, help with homework or just be there to care.
- Special Events – Be part of the team at some of our special fundraising events.
